It’s a Narrow Band!
ITS A NARROW BAND.
The 1125 has the well know DDFI-III with dual O2 sensors. Many Bike manufacturers are using this style of “Close-Open” system for the tricky business of EPA certification. Being that the EPA tests in a small RPM range, and at part throttle, the OE’ only have to meet their stringent specs at this relatively small section of the MAP.
The rest is a STD ALPHA-N [ Throttle Position-RPM ] fuel control.
The word on the street is that the Daytona Twin Tech “Twin Tuner” is going to work for this area of the MAP. The Close area is going to be another “bucket of worms” The current A/F [ Air – Fuel Ratio ] is a quite lean 15.1-1. I’m sure as more units get out, that idle/surge problems will come to light. Its just so close that any loose clamp, bad fuel and cam timing fluctuation will show its ugly head. There is talk of changing the desired A/F with the base flash. I have not seen a system or program for this yet, but I’m sure one will pop up.
We will be testing several systems shortly and with the advent of the new slip on, non too soon!
